Placement/Promotions

Placement and Promotions

Placement

Placement is dependent upon the teacher's observation of the student in class. Placement in the Advanced class is by audition/invitation only.

Promotions

Our curriculum is designed for each child to learn correct technique by spending 2-3 years in each level. This ensures that as children get older, they will be able to perform the full range of the dance vocabulary and curriculum to the best of their ability and without injury. A student that rises through each level at this pace is more apt to seamlessly progress into the upper Intermediate, Pointe and even Advanced classes. Exceptions will only be made in the case of an older student that began late and has quickly learned proper technique. Promotions are left to the discernment of the student's teacher. Occasionally, a promotion will be made during the dance year, but typically promotions are handed out in May or June and are effective for either the summer or the next fall. Promotion to pointe is only available to those students in Level 4 (who are at least 12 years of age) and, again, is at the discernment of the ballet teacher. If you have a question or concern about your child's placement, please speak to the teacher or email the office.
